At Monsieur Biltong, we love exploring new ways to enjoy our biltong. Today we've decided to blend culinary traditions, uniting South Africa and Brittany for a complete meal full of flavor and character.
A recipe full of protein, deliciousness, and ready in minutes!
Ingredients (for 1 pancake)
- 1 buckwheat galette (Breton galette type)
- 1 egg
- A handful of Monsieur Biltong (I used the garlic one, but all the variations work)
- Grated cheese (Emmental, Cheddar, Comté… it’s up to you)
- A knob of butter
- Salt, pepper
- Spices of your choice (paprika, sweet chili, herbs of Provence… depending on your mood)
- Fresh herbs (chives, parsley or coriander for the finishing touch)
Preparation
- Heat a pan over medium heat with a little butter.
- Place the galette in the hot pan. Let it heat gently until it becomes slightly crispy.
- Crack an egg in the center. You can spread the white out slightly so that it cooks evenly.
- Spread the biltong around the egg. Adjust the amount to your taste.
- Add the grated cheese : a little, a lot, or a ton – as much as you like. Season with salt, pepper, and any spices you prefer.
- Once the egg is cooked to your liking (runny or set), fold the galette in half or like a wallet.
- Add some fresh herbs just before serving for a touch of freshness and color. And for an extra touch of indulgence, feel free to add some biltong on top.
The final step: savor this dish packed with goodness. Crispy on the outside, meltingly soft on the inside, seasoned just right… It's simple, quick, and bursting with flavor. Enjoy it at home , whether for a light snack, after a workout , or just to treat yourself . In short, a galette unlike any other, and one that's likely to become a staple in your kitchen.
